For buildings that procure renewable energy through their grid electricity providers, reporting frameworks like GRESB mandate that reporters disclosure information about the quality of the renewables, such as how the renewable energy is guaranteed.
If your building has any fully-renewable meters or meters with renewables contracts, you can track its Renewables Procurement properties in Measurabl.
What renewables properties can Measurabl track?
Measurabl tracks the following building-level renewables properties:
- Procurement Type: How the renewables are guaranteed (PPAs, supply contracts)
- Market-based Claim: Whether the electricity purchase is bundled with the renewables or not
- Proximity: What market the retirement of the renewables applied to
- Vintage: How old the renewables were at retirement
These properties are designed to match the properties mandated for collection by the GRESB framework, as described in their Real Estate Standards. See Appendix 1 of GRESB’s standards document for descriptions of the meanings of each of the renewables procurement settings.
How can I set my buildings' renewables procurement properties?
- First set up your meters. You can only set renewable procurement properties on buildings that have meters that are marked as fully-renewable or that have renewables contracts established.
- After setting up your building’s meters with their renewables contracts, a button will become available at the top of the building’s Utilities page: Edit Renewables Procurement Settings. Click this to open the menu where the procurement properties can be set.
Where are my buildings' renewables properties used?
Your buildings' renewables properties will be reported to GRESB via the Asset-level Export (ALE). Any buildings that report purchased renewable energy will have their renewables procurement properties reported on the Energy tab of the spreadsheet.
If a building does not have its renewables properties set, the building’s renewable procurement values will be reported in the ALE as Mixed/Other.
