Cohort Insights (CI) is a real-time, flexible analytics tool that gives customers insights about their Energy, Water, and Carbon performance compared to custom peer group comparisons.
Cohorts (i.e. peer groups) are subsets of buildings from the universe of Measurabl data selected according to rules defined by you. Cohort Insights allows you to refine cohorts based on building type, size, location, data coverage, and more.
When you run a Cohort Insights benchmarking analysis of your buildings against a custom cohort, Measurabl compares your buildings to only the buildings that meet the criteria you set for the cohort, producing more targeted Efficiency Percentile scores.
Cohort Insights is a Premium Measurabl feature. Want to start benchmarking your buildings against custom cohorts? Reach out to your Measurabl Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, or our Support Team.
How do I create a custom cohort?
- Navigate to the Analytics page, then select Cohort Insights from the tabs at the top of the page.
- Select Create a Cohort.
- Select the metrics you'd like to include in your analysis (Water, Energy, and/or Carbon).
- Select a time period
- Customize your cohort: Set rules that will govern which buildings from the Measurabl universe your buildings will be compared against. If you select the Property Type filter and choose type: Office, the resulting analysis will show how your Office properties benchmark against other Office properties. The filters that are available for filtering your cohort are: Data Coverage, Location, Property Type, and Square Footage. You may also choose to only compare properties in your own portfolio by selecting the check box.
- Hit Apply when finished.
NOTE: As you apply rules for your cohort, you may see the following message: “Not enough data”. This means that there is not enough data in the Measurabl database to create a large enough Cohort for comparison purposes. You'll have to loosen your filters to cast a wider net.
Cohort Insights benchmarks buildings based on how efficient they are and this is represented through the Measurabl Efficiency Percentile. Each building in your custom cohort receives an Efficiency Percentile. This percentile metric is normalized by floor area, weather, use type, month, and year. The Efficiency Percentile you receive will change based on who you compare yourself to (i.e. how you filter your cohort).
After adding/updating a building's data, how long until it can be analyzed by Cohort Insights?
It can take up to 24 hours after adding/editing a building's usage data before that updated usage becomes available to be analyzed by Cohort Insights.
