Maintaining accurate space data within your sites helps tell the story of your sites’ sustainability performance. Knowing that an office has a data center and a large restaurant may explain why it's energy use intensity is higher than a nearby office without those two spaces. Regularly updating space data is especially important for sites with multiple uses or regular tenant turnover. You can make changes to spaces within Measurabl directly or in ENERGY STAR. This article will walk you through on how to add/edit/remove spaces at your properties.
How to add/edit/remove spaces at a property in Measurabl:
- From the Measurabl landing page, Go to the 'Sites' tab on the left menu > Type & select the desired property.
- Click on the 'Edit' button to the right of the property name.
- Click on the 'Spaces' tab.
- NOTE: If you receive a pop up noting 'You're about the make changes to spaces' be sure to click 'Continue to Customize' if you want to update spaces via Measurabl going forward.
- To add a new space: Click the green '+' button in either the 'Leasable Space' or 'Common Areas' tables > Enter a unique space name, floorspace type, and area.
- To edit an existing space: Click into the space row in the field you want to edit > Adjust accordingly.
- To delete a space: Click the red '-' button to the right of the space row.
- NOTE: If you receive a pop up noting 'You're about the make changes to spaces' be sure to click 'Continue to Customize' if you want to update spaces via Measurabl going forward.
- Be sure to save any changes by clicking on the green checkmark at the bottom when finished.

NOTE: If your site is connected with Energy Star, and you decide to make edits to your spaces in Measurabl, it will break the sync between the two platforms. Meaning, the spaces / GFA from Measurabl will not update in Energy Star, and vice versa.
