Measurabl enables you to track the EV charging spaces on your buildings and their associated usage. EV charging spaces have some special properties that affect how their usage is reported.
How can I set up EV charging spaces for my building?
Visit your building in Measurabl, then click on the Edit button in the page header. Click on the Spaces tab to see all of the established spaces on the building. You can add one or more EV charging spaces in the table entitled EV Charging Stations. See here for more information on adding spaces.
When should I declare EV charging spaces?
If your building has EV charging spaces, it may be useful to declare them for the sake of accurately modeling your building, but declaring them really only becomes useful for analytics and reporting when the EV chargers are metered separately from the rest of the building's usage and the meters can be assigned as such.
Where will usage/carbon from EV chargers show in Measurabl?
Usage associated with EV charging is visible in the GRESB Asset-level Export (ALE). It appears under the Non-operational Usage heading on the Energy tab. Carbon associated with EV charging meters is not declared in the ALE.
Usage and carbon associated with EV meters is included by default in all other analytics views: Trends, CrossView, and Cohort Insights.
Which carbon scope does usage on EV meters go to?
The carbon driven by usage from meters assigned to EV charging spaces is bucketed as Scope 3 tenant usage.
When a meter serves both an EV space and other spaces, what happens to its usage and carbon?
Since EV charging spaces don't have floor area, it's not possible to prorate usage between the EV space and other assigned spaces. When a meter is assigned to a combination of EV spaces and spaces that have floor area, all of the usage from the meter will be attributed to the spaces with floor area. This includes how the associated carbon is scoped.
Why can't I assign a meter to a mix of EV spaces and Exterior Areas?
Since both EV charging spaces and Exterior Areas have no floor area, it would be impossible to attribute a meter's usage that was assigned to both kinds of spaces. In the case where you have a meter whose usage is attributable to both an EV charger and to Exterior Areas, we recommend assigning the meter to whichever space type is more usage intensive.
