One type of overlay that can be created in Explorer is an Annotation, or a note. Custom notes can be entered at the building level to flag events that may cause changes to utility usage or demand, and can be seen by all users that have access to the building in the software, including members of the Measurabl Advisory team, if applicable. Notes can be very useful for understanding why a building is operating the way that it is.
Notes can be added in two ways, as detailed below:
OPTION 1: Click and Drag in Explorer
- In Explorer, select the appropriate building and adjust the date picker to show the period of time you would like to add your note to.
- The date in the date picker can span a larger range of time than the note will, but not less.
- Ensuring that the magnifying glass and pan button are not selected click, hold, and drag your mouse cursor over the time period for which you wish to add a note. Times can be fine-tuned in a later step, so don’t worry about clicking-and-dragging perfectly.
- If the magnifying or pan button is selected its icon in the top left of the Explorer graph will be shaded grey, if unselected the icon will remain white.
No icons are selected above the graph. Users can click and drag to add their note.
The magnifying glass is selected, note the grey shading. Clicking and dragging now will zoom the graph in.
- A window will open on the right side of the graph, this is how we can create Schedule Exceptions and notes (annotations). In this section, we will focus on notes. Select “Custom” under “Overlay Type”.
- A new dropdown menu appears below the “Overlay Type” to choose the category of note. Select the most appropriate category, then click “Next”. Multiple categories can be selected, if applicable.
- Add a title and any relevant notes or comments. Users are encouraged to add in as much relevant information and details as they can to assist with future discussions and diagnostics.
- Finally, confirm the date and time ranges you highlighted in Step 2, and make any adjustments as necessary. Click “Save” when finished.
Add via Overlays Menu in Explorer
- In Explorer, select the appropriate building that you would like to add your note to.
- Click on the ‘Overlays’ menu in the top right of the screen.
- Notes can be added by selecting one of the three categories listing under 'Annotations:' Peak Demand, High Usage, and Custom. 'Custom' is the most commonly used annotation.
- The overlays menu described in the above section will appear. Continue from Step 3 in the above Click and Drag in Explorer section.
