Accessing Decarb for the first time can feel a bit daunting; where do you start? Or maybe your team is just getting started on decarbonization initiatives and need to look for opportunities?
While Core’s Cohort Insights and Portfolio Trends are a couple ways to evaluate and benchmark your portfolio, Decarb offers a couple options, too.
Misalignment Risk Over Time
This chart on the Portfolio Summary view in Decarb shows the proportion of your portfolio that is misaligning (per CRREM’s definition) over time if nothing is done. You can choose whether to include or exclude hold periods (if provided for assets) and what the share basis should be calculated on (building count, floor area, or gross asset value). Use this chart to start a conversation with stakeholders about the consequences of inaction and the importance of developing long term decarbonization strategies for your portfolio.
Portfolio Summary Table
This table on the Portfolio Summary view shows all of the buildings in your portfolio accessible within Decarb. You’ll see familiar building attributes like Country, Property Type, and Floor Area as well as Decarb-specific fields like Current Misalignment Years and Normalized Carbon & Energy Intensities.
You can use this table to filter and sort your buildings on dimensions that you deem appropriate for prioritizing:
- Filter by the Status column to focus on buildings that need an Action Plan
- Filter by Group if you need to focus on a specific fund at a time
- Filter by Country to only consider buildings within your regional purview
- Filter by Property Type to focus on those that you know are energy intensive
- Sort by Current Misalignment Year to focus on buildings that already exceed CRREM’s decarbonization targets
- Sort by Normalized Carbon or Energy Intensity to prioritize the top offenders
Once you’ve found a building to focus on, you’re ready to start planning! Once you add projects you can start creating an Action Plan.
