How is Measurabl’s Core product automating meter readings from PG&E given PG&E’s MFA requirement?
Measurabl has built a direct integration with PG&E to automate meter reading data without requiring a PG&E MFA code.
If you wish to automate PG&E data, you must first purchase Connect (contact your Account Manager to do so) and then authorize Measurabl to access data for the desired accounts via PG&E’s API, following the steps here.
Following authorization, Measurabl will automatically push PG&E meter reading data to existing PG&E Connect meters with account and meter numbers with matching meters in PG&E. Measurabl will add new meter readings via the PG&E Integration without overwriting preexisting readings. You must create Connect accounts following these steps for Measurabl to automate PG&E meter readings for those accounts.
FAQs
Why don’t PG&E API readings have bill files or nonzero spend values attached?
PG&E’s API does not provide utility bill files. This is a PG&E-side issue: they have not upgraded to v4 of Green Button, which provides utility bill files. Measurabl cannot obtain utility bill files via the PG&E API.
The API also does not provide easy access to spend data, so Measurabl is pushing 0 values for spend.
What if I need ongoing PG&E bill files?
You have two choices:
- Treat those meters as Bill Upload meters and upload bill files in Measurabl as needed.
- Work with Measurabl to provide the MFA code for your accounts so that we can continue pulling bill files and meter reading data as we did prior to PG&E’s MFA launch. Please reach out to your Customer Delivery Manager for more information.
