You can add new utility meters and readings to your sites in Measurabl either in bulk or individually. This article will show you the two ways of how to add a new meter and new readings (for manual meters only).
NOTE: If you need to add data to a Utility Sync meter (automated meters), please either upload the bill directly in Measurabl if it is a manual bill upload account, or you can send your bill(s) to our Support team.
STEPS TO INDIVIDUALLY ADD A MANUAL METER:
- Navigate to the desired site from the "Sites" tab.
- Click on the "Utilities" tab on the left menu.
NOTE: Utilities are segmented by metric, and you can toggle between Energy, Water, and Waste at the top of the page. - Click on the green "+" next to the desired meter type within the desired metric.
- Fill out the prompted fields > Click "Save."
STEPS TO INDIVIDUALLY ADD A MANUAL METER READING:
- Navigate to the desired site from the "Sites" tab.
- Click on the "Utilities" tab. Click on the "Utilities" tab on the left menu > Select the desired meter.
- Scroll down to the "Readings" table, click on the green "+ Add Meter Reading" button.
- Fill out the Period Start & End Dates, Usage, and Spend, then click "Save".
NOTE: When adding readings to an existing meter, make sure to enter data in the same units and currency.
STEPS TO BULK UPLOAD MANUAL METER DATA:
- To add your manual meter data in bulk, you will use our bulk upload template. You'll use either the 'Meters & Readings Template' or the 'Readings Template', depending on if you are adding new meters or adding readings to existing meters.
- 'Meters & Readings Template' = Add new meters & readings
- 'Readings Template' = Add readings to existing meters
- Please follow those links for the directions of how to complete the template.
- Then, you can either send the completed template to our Support team for processing, or upload it directly in Measurabl.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & FAQs
- I have data error alerts in my meters, what do I do?
- If you are noticing any gaps, overlaps, or other error alerts, please check out this article on more information on how to identify and resolve the issue(s).
- If you don't have the data for your gaps, you can use our Estimations tool.
- I have an intermittent meter, so I have a lot of gaps that I need to fix, what do I do?
-
Intermittent meters are meters that have no usage and no meter readings for a period of time, which will cause a gap in your meter. This can be resolved by filling in the empty time with a 0-usage reading for every individual day that comprises the gap. However, a quicker solution is to fill out our 'Meters, Readings Bulk Upload Template'. You will want to input all of the gap periods in the spreadsheet, then send back to our support team to upload for you! You are also able to just leave the gaps as is since it is intermittent.
- Rather than manually filling the gaps, you can also use our Estimations tool.
-
- What if I'm trying to add readings to an existing meter, but the units are different?
- Each meter can only support one type of unit (if a meter has always read CCF, you must enter any new reading in CCF). To add new meter data under a new unit going forward, you can create a new meter, and specify the new units under the "Unit" dropdown menu.
- If you want to switch the meter, including its historical data, over to the new unit, you'll want to download the meter's historical data by downloading the readings in the meter, and then convert its consumption over to the new unit. Then you will create a new meter with the new unit, and push the converted historical consumption to the new meter. Then you can delete the old meter. Reach out to our support team, if you need help with this process.
- I accidentally entered the wrong data for a previous reading, how can I correct this?
- Go to the reading > Click the ellipses on desired reading > Edit/Delete the reading.
- Go to the reading > Click the ellipses on desired reading > Edit/Delete the reading.
- How do I know if my meter(s) is active or inactive?
- Click into the desired meter > Scroll to middle > Change 'Is this meter active?' toggle to yes/no.
- Measurabl allows you to track meter activation dates within Measurabl for all meter types and utility types. For more information, navigate to this guide.
- Click into the desired meter > Scroll to middle > Change 'Is this meter active?' toggle to yes/no.
